In the Driver of the Month program, drivers who do a superior job are recognized for outstanding performance. In order for a driver to become a "Driver of the Month," he or she must be nominated by a dispatcher or, on rare occasions, by the management. The driver is then observed during the month and reported on regarding a variety of requirements. The first requirement is safety, which includes moving violations, Department of Transportation (DOT) write-ups, load securement, and logs. Other areas concern adhereance to company policies, such as wearing a uniform, truck cleanliness, and equipment securement.

The driver is assigned a point value for each category. The driver who scores the highest is then selected as the Driver of the Month. Drivers do not have to be selected as a Driver of the Month to compete for Driver of the Quarter. The Driver of the Quarter is selected in the same manner as the Driver of the Month and only needs to be nominated during that quarter. Driver of the Year competes in the same manner, but he or she must have been picked as a Driver of the Month or Quarter during that year.
